Second Annual Box Camera Shoot Out – February Meeting

By WAPC Webmaster, February 1, 2011 7:20 pm

This is the second annual box camera shootout, having fun with photography, the old fashioned way. After paying a nominal fee of $10.00, each shootout participant will receive the following, all at the same time:
1. One 27 exposure 35mm box camera with flash, numbered with his or her unique shootout ID.
2. The assignment to photograph by illustration these three themes

  • ODD
  • PURPLE
  • EMOTION

3. Each shooter must use the issued box camera.
4. Each shooter is limited to only one issued 27 exposure camera.
5. Each shooter can decide how many frames he or she wishes to use for each theme.
6. Each shooter will have until the March meeting to complete all three assignments.
7. All shooters must return the unprocessed, officially issued shootout box camera to the March club meeting to be eligible for prizes.
All of the entries will be processed at the same location on the same day. These processed images will be returned to the participants at the April meeting. At that time you will review your images and select one image from each theme for competition. All shooters’ entries will be voted upon by the members present.
Prizes:
1. The top voted pick from each theme will be awarded $50.00 cash.
2. The second voted pick from each theme will be awarded $25.00 cash.
3. The third voted pick from each theme will be awarded $10.00 cash.

All shooters will be using the same equipment. To make compelling images you will be using your talent, lighting, leading lines, cropping in camera, choice of subject, rule of thirds, etc. Have fun with this project as you make compelling images the old fashioned way.
