Member Show/Silent Auction Benefit

By WAPC Webmaster, June 23, 2011 11:48 pm

We have additional opportunities to display our photographic talents at the Wright Place during the Power of Photography Show. There is space for a Members Show and a Silent Auction Benefit. Following are Frequently Asked Questions to help you sort this out.

FAQs

1.  You say they are two different things.   What is the difference between the Members Show and the POP Show.

A/ POP show entries are open to anyone.    Not all pieces make the show and they are judged into the show by a panel of judges. The members show is different in that it is in a different room from the POP show yet still held in conjunction with the show.  It provides and opportunity for the club members to showcase their work and for WAPC as a whole to show what we have to offer.

2.   You say Members Show pieces have to be framed and in white or black mats only, why?

A/  We want the members show to stand out from the rest.    Again, it is our opportunity to shine!   The reason we limit mat colors is to keep the showing more uniform and professional looking, more like what you would see in a gallery.

3.  What is the cost of entry to the members show and will my piece be accepted?

A/ The cost to enter a piece in the members show is $15.00.  All pieces will be accepted into the members show as long as they meet the mat, framing and size requirements and as space permits.  Remember, this is an opportunity for you to shine.   Sign your piece and sell it if you like.

4.   Are you auctioning off the member show pieces?

A/ No.    The silent auction benefit is completely separate from the members show.

5.   What is the silent auction benefit?   And who does it benefit?

A/ The silent auction benefit is an opportunity for you to share your gifts and talents with those less fortunate.    The money will be donated to ARC Gateway (you know, the place we meet monthly).    For those who do not know what ARC is or does, I urge you to check out their website   http://arc-gateway.org/ and learn who they are and what they offer to our community. Recent cutbacks in state funding impact programs that ARC offers.  These impacts can result in the loss of jobs and programs  for the many developmentally disabled individuals that ARC helps.   ARC is good to our organization and we just want to ‘give a little back’.

6.  What day do we turn in pieces for the Members Show?

A/ Jessica Emrick and myself, Tiffanie Rowell, will be available at the Wright Place downtown on Tuesday, June 28th from 12 until 4 pm for drop off and to hang the pieces for the members show.   If you need to make other arrangements, please contact us.   However, keep in mind that we have limited availability due to jobs, families, etc.   So, make every effort to turn in your work on the 28th or have someone else do it for you.

7.  What day do we turn in pieces for the silent auction to benefit ARC?

A/   You will be turning in those pieces on the day of hanging, July 14th at the Wright Place.
