Thanks for a GREAT Show

By WAPC Webmaster, July 13, 2009 10:51 am

Hi Everybody, Well, now that the show has ended I just wanted to take
a minute to say thanks. This experience of being POP Show Chairman has
been quite the deal. There were times of worry, anticipation, anger
and joy. Not knowing what to expect going into this has definitely
opened up new awareness to me of what it is like to put a show like
this together. There were parts of the preperations (jurying and
judging nights) that I would not have imagined in a milion years, but
I know now. I am so proud to have been a part of this show. It was a
Class Act.

Friday night for Gallery Night held its own with all of the other
galleries in Pensacola that night. It will be a night I will remember.
I want to thank all of the members who entered some of the finest
photographs I have seen and especially to those members that literally
worked their butts off to put this show together. I could not have
done any of it without you guys. I am truly proud to have you guys as
mentors, associates and espeicially to some hopefully good friends for
a long time to come.

I am proud to be a part of your group and thank you all for all of
your time, effort and hard work.
You guys are the Class Acts in my book!
Thanks again,
Marty Campbell  2009 POP Show Chairman

The BEST Gallery Show Ever!!

By WAPC Webmaster, July 10, 2009 11:06 pm

If you missed tonight’s extravaganza you missed the BEST Power of Photography Gallery Night. The News Journal listed us as the #3 pick on the Gallery Night Tour. “The third biggest draw is the Wide Angle Photo Club’s 16th annual “Power of Photography Show and Trade Expo” at The Wright Place, 80 E. Wright St. The show is a benefit for ARC Gateway and runs throughout the weekend, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.”

The photos were the main draw, but the food was superb and artistically presented by Sonny Scroggs. The meatballs, homemade sweets, bruschetta, fruit plate, and much, much more were fabulous! The crowd was attracted to the amazing vendor trade expo area with silent auction and donation drawings. The set-up was very eye-catching and thanks to Carol Langston for contacting all of the vendors again this year. There are tripods, monitor calibration software, Delkin sensor scope, papers for printing and items too numerous to mention. Come out and see for yourself!

People walking around trying hard to decide on the People’s Choice Award were treated to some beautiful music played by our talented guest artist Greg on the piano tonight. We hope to hear more from him on Saturday (hint, hint). Our beautiful greeter this evening was Shelley Rutherford who so graciously answered any questions that visitors had. Her lovely daughter Christina was working the vendor booth, in a floor length black evening gown no less! To finish rounding out the talented family Bill Rutherford, husband and dad, was capturing all of the goings on with his trusty Nikon.

Club members have put in long days and worked hard to make this evening a wonderful event. This year’s POP Show Chair, Marty Campbell was busy chatting with all of the participants and visitors, and a wonderful time was had by all.
